Job Description - Part-Time Assistant Technical Lead
Reports to: Technical Director

Position Type : Part-Time or Full-Time depending on availability and qualifications (evenings/weekends required)

Position Overview
The Part-Time Assistant Technical Lead (ATL) supports the Technical Director in planning, implementing, and evaluating the club’s technical programs. This role focuses on coaching education, player development, and ensuring that the club’s technical vision and long-term player development (LTPD) model are consistently applied across all age groups.
Key Responsibilities
Program Support
- Assisting with the development, documentation and ongoing refinement of the WSEU Technical Program/Curriculum for female and/or male youth players as well as coaches
- Support age-appropriate curriculum design for grassroots, development, and competitive teams.
- Assisting with player evaluations during team formation for the single season
- Help oversee training sessions, games, festivals, and tournaments
- Attending Association, League, Club and District Community Centre events as a representative of WSEU (e.g. TD meetings, WSEU gala)
- Aiding in the recruitment of volunteer coaches for the Club
Coach Development
- Mentor and support volunteer and staff coaches.
- Assist in organizing and delivering coaching workshops, clinics, and resources.
- Provide regular feedback and support to coaches in practice and game environments
Player Development
- Monitor and evaluate player progress across age groups
- Lead or assist with talent identification and player pathway programs.
- Ensure training environments are positive, safe, and inclusive
Administration & Communication
- Assist with scheduling and planning technical programming
- Support player and parent education initiatives
- Communicate effectively with coaches, players, and families as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum Canada Soccer C License, working toward B License and/or a Children’s License is an asset
- Strong knowledge of the LTPD model and player development principles
- Previous experience coaching youth soccer at grassroots and/or competitive levels
- Playing experience at a high-performance level (e.g. Canada Summer Games and/or Provincial Program) is considered beneficial but not mandatory. Play at higher levels in Youth or Adult Premier Leagues is recognized, but a lower level than participation in a recognized University program, which is recognized as a mid-level requirement with Professional experience a bonus for top-level recognition)
- Completion of a High School Diploma as a minimum point of entry, with completion of a Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in a related discipline being beneficial for advancement beyond mid-level requirements
- Experience with commonly used Microsoft Office Suite of software products
- Knowledge of the use and application of session planning tools
- Strong leadership, verbal and written communication, conflict resolution, time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Current Respect in Sport, Making Ethical Decisions, and Making Headway certifications (or willingness to complete)
- Current CPR/First Aid certification is an asset
- A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
- Must complete a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
