Requirements for Soccer Coaches

Criminal Record Check

• Required for all mini and youth soccer coaches in Manitoba
• Good for 3 years (needs to be renewed every 3 years to continue coaching)
• $56.70 through the City of Winnipeg Police
• Reimbursable in-full by WSEU (please keep your receipt)
• Visit https://www.policesolutions.ca/checks/services/winnipeg/ to complete your Criminal Record Check

Child Abuse Registry Check

• Required for all mini and youth soccer coaches in Manitoba
• Good for 3 years (needs to be renewed every 3 years to continue coaching)
• Free if done through WSEU office, $20 if done on your own; visit https://web.gov.mb.ca/AbuseRegistry
• Contact the WSEU office at officemanager@wseu.ca for the applicable form

Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders

• Required for all coaches of sanctioned youth sports in Manitoba
• Good for 5 years (needs to be renewed every 5 years to continue coaching)
• 60-120 minute online course
• Free

Completion of Applicable Canada Soccer Grassroots Coaching Workshop

 Active Start

• For coaches of players ages 4-6
• 60-90 minute online workshop, on-field portion to be scheduled later
• Can be done at your own pace, on your own time
• Good for life (does not need to be renewed)
• $20
• Reimbursable in-full by WSEU (please keep your receipt)

FUNdamentals

• For coaches of players ages 6-8
• 60-90 minute online workshop, on-field portion to be scheduled later
